Second Volume of Apocalyptic Fiction by Master Anthologist

World-class editor John Joseph Adams has selected and assembled a second volume of apocalyptic science fiction to follow up to the original “Wastelands” anthology. This volume is a hefty collection and includes many big names in the genre, including a longer work by George R. R. Martin. The stories are a nice selection of styles and types, but as with any themed collection one may like some, while others do no suit one’s tastes. That’s fine of course, and the nature of anthologies. However, this type of collection can certainly introduce one to new authors and works that you might not come across one your own. Apocalypses portrayed include many unusual viewpoints, and the stories are set both during and after the end. Some offer hope, while others are bleak. Overall, it is a worthy successor to the outstanding original collection.
