On his thirty-sixth birthday, Travis Cornell hikes into the foothills of the Santa Ana Mountains. But his path is soon blocked by a bedraggled Golden Retriever who will let him go no further into the dark woods.
That morning, Travis had been desperate to find some happiness in his lonely, seemingly cursed life. What he finds is a dog of alarming intelligence that soon leads him into a relentless storm of mankind’s darkest creation...

Fantastic and fantastical - woof
A great story and a great telling. If you merely like dogs you’ll love this tale and, as you look at your beloved hound, you’ll marvel at what you can imagine about her - and how wonderful she is, regardless of whether she can read Prost.
Watchers by Dean Koontz
What a wonderful read. A love story with action and a special smart dog. I loved it. Read this in my 20's. I am almost sixty. Read it again like it was the first time. Will probably read it again when I am seventy. Bravo Dean. Loved it!!! I am now 70 and read it again!!
