Former pararescue jumper Orion Starr is haunted by the memory of a rescue gone wrong. He may be living alone in Alaska now, but the pain of his failure--and his injuries--has followed him there from Afghanistan. He has no desire to join Hamilton Jones's elite rescue team, but he also can't shirk his duty when the call comes in to rescue three lost climbers on Denali.

Former CIA profiler and psychiatrist Jenny Calhoun's yearly extreme challenge with her best friends is her only escape from the guilt that has sunk its claws into her. As a consultant during a top-secret mission to root out the Taliban, she green-lighted an operation that ended in ambush and lives lost. When her cathartic climb on Denali turns deadly, she'll be forced to trust her life and the lives of her friends to the most dangerous of heroes--the man she nearly killed.

Her skills and his experience are exactly what's needed to prevent another tragedy--but in order to truly set Orion free from his painful past, Jenny will have to reveal hers. They'll have to put their wounds behind them to survive, but at what cost?

Nailed it!

So. Good. This book left me breathless! Realistic characters struggling with their faith and choices just like everyday Christians do! Susan May Warren keeps it real! Can’t wait for the next book!

THE WAY OF THE BRAVE

The vast aloneness of Alaska gave Orion the space to breathe, to scream
Ham wanted Orion to join his private international company SAR. He didn’t want anything to do with special op’s any more, or anybody’s troubles.
The need to find Royal a teammate captured in Afghanistan burned within, , the reasons were enough to get him to board a plane to NY and meet Ham.
Enough with other people’s trouble, he needed to be in Alaska.
Jenny, still facing the terrible mistakes she made, almost killing a man
Climbing Denali was something she had to do, needing a guide, Orion comes to mind, she won’t ask, sure he wouldn’t even want to talk to her.
She tells the men to join her group of 3 women to climb Denali together.
The plot is mainly of them climbing, and the rescues that happen. What drives them is guilt, wanting forgiveness, to name a few. Good account of how dangerous it is. Their mantra is, don’t look down, and one step at a time.
Good cast of people have been introduce, so hopefully they will have their own story to tell. Being this was the first in this series, we had more background on Jenny and Orion, of where they were coming from.Overall will look for more in the series. Given ARC. Y Net Galley and Revell for my voluntary review and my honest opinion.
