Publisher Description
We Can Do Butter! takes a stark look at the health of people and planet from the point of view of a biologist and private farm-to-table chef with experience in health care and food safety for the Department of Agriculture. Author Lela Buttery has a timely message: take control of your food by being your own food scientist and chef–sourcing, prepping, and cooking your own quality, organic, nutrient-dense foods. This book tells you why to avoid GMOs and commercially processed foods in no uncertain terms, replacing marketing hype with basic biology and simple recipes for living a ‘Do Butter’ lifestyle. Starting with eating real butter. Topics cover recipes and tips on menu-planning for smart eating, as well as microbial biology, cell metabolism, food combining, essential nutrients, and GMOs. Fantastic Book…A MUST READ
I love this book and I am recommending it to all of my friends who still haven't figured out that butter, cream, lard, bacon, raw cheese and the other healthy foods we are told to stay away from are not the enemy. Using her experience and vast knowledge as a biologist and a farm to table chef, Lela is able to put into simple terms why we should eat real food and not be afraid of healthy fats. She then teaches in easy steps how to source, prep, and cook these foods for the easiest access. It is a fantastic eater's manual! Thank you Lela.
