Publisher Description
Outrageous. Ironic. Quirky. subversive. Wearable Art is all of these things, and so much more. Wearable Art is an artform that extends across many disciplines. It uses the body as a platform and a canvas; a vehicle for transporting an idea. Wearable Art doesn't need to be practical or fashionable or even take itself seriously. It just needs to be wearable. In 2006, students from the Wearable Art: Object and Body class at the Alberta College of Art + Design (ACAD) in Calgary, Alberta designed and created one-of-kind works of art using alternative and found materials. They were invited to have an exhibition and performance for the second anniversary of Art Central, an innovative cultural centre located in downtown Calgary. Over 500 people attended the performance. This book is a record of their experience and demonstration of their passion and skill. It celebrates the creative spirit. Foreword by Dee Fontans
