Good. Entertaining. Different.
Disappointing
The initial concept of waking up in a fantasy world was great, but the inner monologue of the MC was somewhat horrifying. Not sure what the author was thinking. The way he described women or race was just… ghastly. I’m all for rooting for the underdog but it was impossible for me not to judge the MC harshly. Maybe this just isn’t my cup of tea.
Fun series, however…
I have read every one of the books published in this series as well as most of the final book which can be read elsewhere on the web in beta format while it’s being written, or rewritten in part, I should say. I also enjoyed The Good Student by V.Moody, both book 1 and the the part of the second book that has been written so far, which can be also read on the web in beta. The issue I have is that he doesn’t seem to be able to finish either series. I have the impression that he over complicates things at times and doesn’t have a clear idea of where the stories should end. Both have been stuck for a couple of years. And it feels like he might have moved on to other stuff, unless of course real life has slowed him down, which I hope is not the case. Otherwise I agree with other reviewers that he is original and entertaining, but he might benefit from a good editor to get more focused, and go that last mile on these fun series.
