Publisher Description
When I quit my gig as a fortune teller to become Oracle, I should've known there'd be strings attached. Olympic-sized strings.
After Apollo freed the Titans from Tartarus, we waited for his next move.
And waited.
And waited.
The days turned into weeks, weeks turned into months, months turned into years.
However, we didn't sit around twiddling our thumbs. We trained. The Supernatural Council of the Americas met. We coordinated with ISEA to prepare without alarming the mundanes. Bringing mundane attention, therefore, belief and the power that yields to Apollo was the last thing we wanted to do.
Finally, the Moirai, aka the Fates, summoned me and showed me the possible future if I didn't act before Apollo did. I'm going to be honest. It didn't look good for anyone except him. I had to challenge him.
After much deliberation, I came up with a plan. It was simple, really.
Olympians loved games.
The ultimate competition, set up in the former prison known simply as the Vault. There's no way to cheat. The place was sentient.
The prize was so sweet that no one can resist it, not even Apollo.
The prize?
Dominion over Earth.
Customer Reviews
Not my cup of tea, but a good story
While I absolutely love the other three books in this series, I found this installment to be a bit lackluster. I love Lydia and Hermes and all their peeps, and I was really looking forward to this new story. I love the plot and the story idea, but I found the ending to be a bit of a let down. It took me a while to get into this book, where I found myself immediately drawn into the other three.
I really enjoyed the Olympic-style games aspect to this story and felt there could have been more done with this as well as with the character of John. I also would have like to see more of Apollo's journey to his ultimate decision at the end.
I love Lydia as a character. She is extremely relatable and likable. I love her and Hermes together as a couple and how she interacts with her son and found family. I really enjoyed seeing Athena and Lydia's relationship evolve through this book, and I appreciated some of the new characters the author brought into this story.
T. J. Deschamps attention to detail when it comes to the mythology and how she honors the mythology is wonderful as always. This particular book was just a miss for me personally. Still a good book and a good story and I would recommend it to those who love the Midlife Olympians series.
I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
