Whalen's Switch

Judge Isaac Parker was worried. He was under orders from President Grant to bring law and order to an area larger than the thirteen original colonies. Outlaws were running rampant throughout the Nations. Men, women, and children were being murdered at will. Parker went to his knees. "Lord, I'm asking You to send me men of character, men who love You, love the law, and love justice. And if You wouldn't mind, men who are crack shots and fast on the draw. Amen."

This is the story of three men who answered Parker's call for help: Pleaman Harman, ex-major in J. E. B. Stuart's cavalry; J. B. Beaman, ex–deputy sheriff from Lansing, Michigan; and Moses Washington, ex-slave.
