This is the memoir of a book publisher. It wasnt written in chronological order as his life unfolded. It was written when the events took place so it was fresh in the authors mind. Then the stories were assembled like a collection of short stories. There are gaps in the sequence like the routine of catching the 8:15 train to the office each day.
