Publisher Description

Introduction Quality of life is something that women with breast cancer experience on an everyday basis, whereas clinicians see it as relating to an illness or a treatment. It is important to understand quality of life in order to ensure that best treatments are developed with the minimum impact on the recipients and to help plan personalised care and treatment. To this end, the concept of quality of life has been carefully theorised and many measures and scales developed with, as yet, no definitive list of criteria that constitute it [1] nor any consensus reached on measures to be used [2]. Therefore care must be taken not to give over-reliance to measures and scales which can only ever be a superficial representation of people's lives.
