Meh.
While the first book in the series had decent character development, the subsequent books highlighted the author’s lack of research — to the point of creating situations and locations that forced a great deal of suspension of disbelief. When writing involves American characters, the author really should make an effort to learn the ‘Americanisms’ beyond “y’all” for the character from Texas. An impartial editor might have been a good idea for the later novels, for as the series goes along the errors in plot development become more and more evident. This particular novel (Paphos) has a rushed ending that had no real depth.
The first book was charming. Stop there, particularly if you’re not into whiny, overly emotional characters, who all seem to need therapists, getting themselves into silly cat fights.
