An updated edition of the #1 New York Times bestselling book celebrating a decade of timeless wisdom, with new content from Oprah
What do you know for sure?
This is the question that guided Oprah Winfrey’s long-running magazine column, where she reflected on her life and shared insights with millions of readers. It was a question, she said, that offered her a way to “take stock of her life" in pivotal moments. Over the years, there have been many such opportunities, such as when she retired The Oprah Winfrey Show, launched her own television network, received the Presidential Medal of Freedom, and celebrated milestone birthdays.
These essays offer a rare and profound glimpse into the mind of one of the world's most extraordinary women. Now, for the first time, this powerful collection has been updated with new material and stories reflecting Oprah’s seven decades of lived experience. Candid, inspiring, and dynamic, the words Oprah shares in What I Know For Sure shimmer with the sort of wisdom and truth that readers will turn to, and share, again and again.
PUBLISHERS WEEKLY
"You lead life; it doesn't lead you" is the motivating message behind media super star Winfrey's life, career, and latest book a compilation from the past 14 years of her monthly column in O, the Oprah Magazine. Divided into topics including resilience, clarity, gratitude, and awe, each essay provides a brief encouraging and thought-provoking reading moment. Winfrey writes calmly and conversationally. Among many other topics, she addresses personal strength, spirituality, clutter, and debt. She encourages readers to accept and welcome change, to appreciate the gift of life, and to be true to one's self. She digs into painful memories to share lessons she's learned, as well as how she has moved beyond pain and regret. Those interested in her personal life will find scattered details of how she spends her days, from time with her partner or her friends to reading and exercising. Gentle and supportive, while concise and sincere, these brief observations invite readers to five minutes of quiet contemplation. Ask yourself what you know for sure, Winfrey says, and "hat you'll find along the way will be fantastic, because what you'll find will be yourself."

Universal Life Lessons Oprah Style
I was tempted to write this review after reading another review in which the reviewer bashes Oprah for being rich. This book is universal and its words can enrich the lives of anyone who chooses to heed her wisdom. Yes, the book is written by Oprah so it's obviously from her perspective. So she's rich--who cares? Anyone who thinks money is the answer to happiness should keep searching his or her soul for something more fulfilling. Despite hardships, which we all experience, life is what you make it. Plain and simple. Her book is part self-help, part self-discovery, part catharsis--Oprah style.
Highlights and Insights..
Purchased on a Tuesday. Finished on Thursday night. So many great messages back to back that my copy looks like a coloring book full of yellow, blue, purples, green, and red underlines. A very easy read where you can't help but to hear her voice speaking a life time of wisdom into your spirit.
What Monica Knows for Sure...Well so Far
I only read the introduction and first few pages, and I realized I needed to ask myself, "What I know for sure." If you "flounder or flourish" it's all on you. So far, the book has a few themes we all know, but normalizing those themes with her life makes it palatable. It doesn't appear like it will be full of hokey mantras. Maybe it's my season to read what she has to say, but I can't wait to read more!! I'll review again after I read it entirely.
