However, behind his easy-to-read approach is a deeper sensibility, a heavier theological hand, than in any of Bell's previous works. While in the past Bell has questioned traditional views on sex, sacrifice, and hell, now he tackles the big one: God. He writes of "waking up in new ways to the God who's been here the whole time," a divine being who is with, for and ahead of humanity so that a jaded generation of "spiritual but not religious" may see Jesus, and divinity, in all things. Bell challenges boundaries
I don't see anything wrong with that. We were given a choice. To choose, one has to reason. To reason, one must question.
Hibernating in a narrow minded way of thinking never got us anywhere. Even Jesus thought much broader than those of the age were ready for.
I like Rob. I may not agree with everything he says, but he does have some compelling thoughts and great insights often overlooked.
After all, there should be no 'boundaries'. We put them there.
I can't wait to read this book :)
Excellent
I love how Bell uses the newest scientific discoveries to support his points. After reading, I am in such awe of our universe and God. I would highly recommend this book to anybody...even friends who believe drastically different from me or Bell.
Nothing too controversial
I really enjoy Rob Bell's writing style.
A lot.
I read this book cautiously over the course of 2 days knowing that I have serious misgivings about much of what he's said much of what he says he believes.
With that said.
I think this is a call to realize there's deeper meaning in everything and that God is with us all the time.
However.
It lacks discussion about our need to repent and turn away from sin and it also lacks a clear description about Jesus' message of Salvation by grace through faith. While I think it will cause any athirst, agnostic or unbeliever, generally, to think more about the possibility of God and highlights some incredible things about Jesus it lacks a complete message and falls flat in the end. It's a good start. I really enjoyed reading it despite some minor is agreements w a few statements.
All in all nothing too controversial and beautifully written.
