A young girl fighting a rare form of cancer. A mother who refuses to give up. The promise of a possible cure.
Christine can't remember a time when she wasn't sick, and she wants nothing more than to be normal like her friends. Her mother refuses to give up and does her best to keep her daughter's spirit up, including singing the old song You Are My Sunshine. Christine admits that it is her sunshine that keeps her going and lets her know that she has survived the night.
Out of options, when Karen is approached about an experimental treatment, she jumps at the chance, despite the risks. Even a few moments in the sunlight make the darkness bearable when it finally sets.
