A brief private encounter becomes the subject of gossip, so March and Charlotte wed quickly to avoid scandal. Their chance at happiness is marred by March's memories of his parents' fractured relationship, leaving it up to Charlotte to balance playing the role of duchess, exercising her independence, and reassuring her husband that he doesn't share his father's less savory qualities. This well-plotted novel is steeped in realism, with meticulous attention to historical detail that never overwhelms the romantic tension.

Horrible
Don't waste your time or especially your money!!! Finished it but only because I thought surely it can't get any worse, it did.
Takes Historical romance to a new level
The story is so contrived where as the hero is so guilt ridden he can't see what a fool he is being. Also a female lead who is so frustratingly pathetic that she actually believes the fault to be hers.
Overall frustratingly backwards, what the main characters have conflict with is a laughable cause to the modern reader.
If buying be prepared for continues eye rolling.
