I received this ARC from booksirens, and I am voluntarily writing a review.

It seems to me that the author has broken a book into multiple parts, and I believe this is the prequel novella, sitting around 70 pages. I will forewarn that this does end in a cliffhanger, so just be aware if that’s a dealbreaker for you. The story centers around Rose, a mid-30s woman who fled LA after a divorce to teach first grade in Eureka Springs, Arkansas. She meets Jahi, whose daughter is in her class, and a relationship starts to develop from there.

Overall, the plot was good and definitely kept me engaged. There were some incredible lines that hit me like a truck - they were beautiful and eloquent. My biggest issue, and the reason for the 3⭐️ is that the writing felt inconsistent. You’d have these amazing lines, but then the dialogue seemed stilted and unnatural half the time. I’m not sure if I’ll read the remainder of the series, but this book definitely has potential if you’re looking for a sweet romance highlighting adults that have life experience.
