In WHISPER OF LOVE
Tempest Braden adores her family and her small hometown, but sometimes too much of a good thing can be confining. At almost thirty, having watched most of her siblings find true love, she’s anxious to experience her own happily ever after, and the move to Pleasant Hill, Maryland, is just the change she needs. When she rents a room from ruggedly handsome, and closed-off, artist Nash Morgan and his adorable son, Phillip, she thinks she’s found a little slice of heaven on the outskirts of town, where she can concentrate on building her business. That is, if she can ignore the undeniable heat between her and the sinfully hot single father.
When Nash bought his farmette, he had one goal in mind—to provide a loving, stable home for his son. He never imagined he’d be raising Phillip alone, or renting out a room to keep their heads above water. Then again, he never imagined losing his brother, or spending two years sailing around the world with parents who seemed to forget one son was still alive.
Sparks fly from the moment Tempest moves in, and her positive energy and inquisitive nature brings new life into Nash and Phillip’s quiet, confined world. For the first time in years, Nash wants to let a woman into his world, but while his loss made him stronger, that strength came at a price, leaving him walled off and wary of opening his heart again.

Can music mend a broken heart?
It is said that "music tames the savage beast" but can it also heal a closed and broken heart?
Tempest Braden describes herself as ".... careful. Careful in life, careful with her emotions, and careful with herself. Too careful. At closer to thirty than twenty, she was feeling hemmed in by her mall hometown and, she had to admit, by her own careful nature." Tempe is ready for a change so she branches out from her music therapy program at the hospital into trying to start children's music groups in Pleasant Hill. She takes an even bigger step by renting a room from Nash, a single father who is raising his son Phillip on a small farm.
Nash is a quiet man with a broken heart from the loss of his brother and the family he once knew. He is an accomplished artist but has set aside his metal and wood sculpting in order to focus on his raising his son. Nash is a man of few words and he feels that he and Phillip get along just fine on their own.
Tempe breezes into their lives and brings with her a breath of fresh air. Her love for children spills out over Phillip and over time, her music begins to soften Nash's hardened heart. I loved watching their relationship grow and seeing Nash give up his guarded and brooding nature. Phillip (or Flip as he calls himself) is adorable and he definitely steals the show at the end of the book.
This addition to the Braden series by Melissa Foster is a great read and a very touching story of healing and of forgiveness.
Note: I had occasion to listen to the audio version of this book and I enjoyed it just as much. The narrator, BJ Harrison, does a great job and has a very easy to listen to voice. I do not hesitate to recommend this book in either format.
I couldn’t wait to see Tempy fall in love and seeing her help Nash and “flip” grow as a family made me laugh and cry. I can’t wait to read about Ty when it is his turn.
Whisper of Love
First time reading this author. The story had great potential, but their hook up happened way too fast for my taste, and the sex was a little too graphic . It seems that’s become the selling point these days. I did like the characters and the story line though.
