The voice that spoke the cosmos into existence is the same voice that parted the Red Sea, and made the sun stand still in the midday sky. One day, this voice will make all things new, but it’s also speaking to you now!
That voice is God’s voice, and what we’ve learned from Scripture is that He often speaks in a whisper. Not to make it difficult to hear Him, but to draw us close.
Many people have a tough time believing God still speaks. Sure, in ancient times and in mysterious ways, God spoke to His people, but is He still speaking now?
Mark Batterson certainly believes so. And he wants to introduce you to the seven love languages of God; each of them unique and entirely divine. Some of them you might suspect but others will surprise you.
By learning to tune in to and decipher each language, you’ll be able to hear His guidance in simple as well as life-altering choices. God is actively speaking through: Scripture, Desires, Doors, Dreams, People, Promptings, and Pain. Batterson gives you the tools you need to unlock each of these languages.
God’s whisper can answer your most burning questions, calm your deepest fears, and fulfill your loftiest dreams.
Discover how simple it is to hear God’s voice in every aspect of your life!
He’s speaking, make sure you know how to listen!
Batterson, pastor of National Community Church in Washington, D.C., challenges his readers to utter a seven-word prayer to change their lives: "Speak, Lord, for your servant is listening." Batterson begins his text with a quote from otolaryngologist Alfred Tomatis: "The voice can only reproduce what the ear can hear." Batterson uses that idea to challenge Christ followers to better attune their spiritual connection by regularly removing themselves from busyness so that they can hear God's voice in the world around them. "When our lives get loud, with noise filling every frequency, we lose our sense of being," Batterson writes. "If you want to hear the heart of God, silence is the key. If you want the Spirit of God to fill you, be still." Batterson then recommends seven ways to quiet the endless cacophony, encouraging readers to study scripture, pay attention to desires, watch for open doors, understand dreams, study people, be sensitive to prompting of the Holy Spirit, and recognize the redemptive value of pain. Generous with spiritual admonitions, Batterson's book will be a welcome respite to Christ followers looking to slow down in an accelerating world.
This by far has been a pivotal book in my life. Helped me understand just how much we are loved by the father. And just how little I listened before. In the stillness of the storm he is there. All glory to God. Will definitely be looking into more books by this incredible author of faith.
this book is amazing I recommend it 100%
Another great book by Mark Batterson. Whisper is a book about how close God really is to each and every one of his children. He is love and he loves us in a way we can barely comprehend. Mark Batterson has a way of engaging the reader spiritually, as well as emotionally. I highly recommend this book for anyone who feels far from God.
