Publisher Description

This is the fourth Jack Irish thriller, and the third one in the series to win a Ned Kelly Award for Crime Fiction.

Jack Irish-gambler, cook and cabinetmaker, finder of people who don't want to be found-has a new job, hunting for evidence that might save the beautiful sculptor Sarah Longmore from a murder rap.

Jack soon discovers there was nothing straightforward about Mickey Franklin's death, and falls headlong into a world of shady deals, sexual secrets and country rednecks.

Another adventurous Aussie yarn from Peter Temple

Jack Irish is back. Former Melbourne solicitor, current finder of people, debt collector, part time fine cabinet maker and horse race maven.

This time a shady developer is murdered and his former gf, artist & daughter of wealth, Sarah Longmore is the accused. Jack is hired to get info which can aid her legal defense handled by his friend & former law partner, Drew Greer.

There are shady dealings with developers at the big end of town. Corrupt former cops. Well connected pols & money men. All sorts of dangerous complications ensue with Jack brutally in the middle. He’s got more bruises & injuries than a NFL middle linebacker.

Readers familiar w the Irish series will enjoy visits with Temple’s recurring characters, unique to crime thrillers.
New readers will savor the action & old & new characters.

A fun read. Perhaps a bit far fetched but still within the realm of reality.
Give it a go…
