Whiti Ora

Whiti Ora is a collection of papers presented by Sir Mason Durie that discuss Māori

health in Aotearoa. They are arranged chronologically from 2000 to 2019. Topics covered

include indigenous approaches to mental health, alcohol and drug misuse, psychiatry,

transgenic research, diabetes, suicide, housing and education. The papers also discuss

whānau health, rongoā Māori, Te Tiriti o Waitangi, tino rangatiratanga, the influence

of Te Rangihīroa, Māori contributions to public health in Aotearoa, Māori success, and

contemporary Māori experiences. In the final paper, Mason Durie offers some thoughts

on the future for Māori health.
