A synopsis
We are all on a quest, a mythic hero’s journey if you will. Some call it the search for the Holy Grail; others call it the golden ball or a ride on the wild man’s back. It is the journey to reclaim that elusive part of us called the soul. The journey begins with a shift in the spiritual center of a man’s life when orthodoxy and tradition are no longer enough. Where soul is reduced to a genre of food or music .The mundane status quo of taxes car notes and cubicles is no longer sustainable from within. A new paradigm, a personal heroic myth is needed to address old questions. Some men volunteer for the journey. Others are forced by events beyond their control to trust a part of themselves they have never known. Both receive assistance from supernatural agencies that come to their aid in time of crisis and aid them in their quest for redemption This is a quantum journey into the inner life of one such ordinary man when the shards of today’s nightmare of shattered dreams become the compost of tomorrows vision of hope in new life. Ted Wicker is a High School English teacher in Detroit on a quest for personal redemption. This journey is based upon and inspired by true events in the life of the author.
Stranded in a snow storm at Detroit Metropolitan airport, his Northern National flight to Denver is cancelled. He recounted another storm; one that launched him on an extraordinary journey to re-discover the truth and meaning of his own soul. Beginning with an, agonizing yet inspiring march across Belle Isle Bridge at 3: am on Christmas Eve. He is emotionally shattered in the gripps of a deep sadness no words can touch .Desperately in need of medical attention he had entered the dark night of the soul. Assistance comes from his SIURA and a raven called Shield.
With their assistance, Wicker begins a quest to ‘see the face of the king within’ and be blessed. In a thirty year sojourn that that takes place in twenty four hours on Christmas eve he is re-affirmed in the four roles every man, regardless of station in life MUST play in life; King, Warrior, Lover ,and magician. Near the end of his journey Wicker receives the greatest gift any man can receive; the gift of himself to himself whole and complete. Edward B. Rembert
