Loved it!
Even though I was expecting a story set in the highlands, this turned out to be one best books I have read! Hannah Howell has become one of my favorite authors!
Disappointing Read
Hannah Howell does not write too many non regency / non Highland storylines so I was excited to read this one. This book has a fairly good storyline which is why I gave it three stars. However that was nearly outweighed by the fact that the story could’ve been told in half the number of pages. The other half of the book was filled with unrelenting rehashing of the two main character’s insecurities and way too many gratuitous long winded sex scenes. I skimmed a lot of pages.
Finally, there was nothing presented to justify Tearlach’s cruelty toward Pleasance. There was nothing charming about his constant and at times forceful seduction of an indentured virgin, which made this story uncomfortable to read at times.
Bottom line . . . . . . . Hannah Howell not at her best!
