Bestselling Author's New Series Delivers Romance and Adventure as an SAR Team Searches for Others--and Finds Themselves
Search and rescue pilot Kacey Fairing is home on leave in Mercy Falls, Montana, twelve years after she joined the military to escape the mistakes of her past. With a job waiting for her as the new lead pilot of Peak Rescue in Glacier National Park, Kacey hopes to reconnect with the now-teenage daughter she sees only between deployments. What she doesn't realize is that someone else is also back in town.
Ben King has been building his country music career since the day Kacey shut him out of her life. Now all of that's on hold when his injured father calls him home to help run Peak Rescue until he's fully recovered. It doesn't take long, though, to discover his father's ulterior motives as Kacey Fairing walks into the house and back into his heart.
With Mercy Falls in a state of emergency due to flash floods, Kacey and Ben are forced to work together to save lives. But when floodwaters turn personal, can they put aside the past to save their future?
Warren (Christiansen Family series) begins a new series in roaring fashion with this romance set against the backdrop of fictional Mercy Falls, Mont. When the local search and rescue team needs a new pilot because of the unseasonably flooding Mercy River, they call in military hero Kacey Fairing. Returning to her hometown won't be easy after 12 years in the army as a helicopter pilot, especially as she tries to reconnect with her teenage daughter and to fight the effects of PTSD. It's even harder when she realizes Ben King is also in town the country star returned to help his ailing father recuperate and to reevaluate his music career. When Kacey walks back into his life, the feelings he had in high school start to resurface: love for her, yet anger at her for giving up their daughter for adoption. As floodwaters make it difficult for a group of youth campers to return to town, Ben and Kacey must put aside their past to help those stuck on the mountain trail. Though the story does attempt to dive into such deep issues as combat trauma, premarital sex, selling out, and adoption, Warren doesn't spend enough time on any of the issues to take them to realistic depth. This first book in the Montana Rescue series introduces the audience to weighty themes and notable characters who will no doubt get a chance at their own happy ending in future books.
Thank you Susie
Thank you for writing a good, wholesome book I'm not ashamed to share with people I care about. And for sharing your faith with others. I loved the book. Can't wait to start Rescue Me. God bless you. My heart is full after reading this. 💗🙏🏼💗
This is a wonderful, inspirational read that held my attention from the first page to the last. Set in the beautiful countryside of Montana around the Glacier National Park, the author does an impressive job of painting a picture and bringing the scene right to you through her writing. It's an incredible story of past pain, secrets, forgiveness, and new beginnings. Kacey Fairing is back home in Mercy Falls currently on leave from the military but looking to take a permanent job with the local search and rescue team. She has a daughter who barely knows her having been home only between deployments for the last 12 years. What she doesn't realize is that Ben King is also back in Mercy Falls. Ben King, the father of her daughter. The daughter he knows nothing about. Avoiding him won't be an option either. With the state being in a state of emergency due to the floods, they will be working together to help others. Emotions are high, faith is questioned, and the future undecided but Ben and Kacey always had a special connection and nothing has changed. Can they find a way back to each other?
Definitely a recommended read.
WILD MONTANA SKIES
A new series for Susan May Warren, WILD MONTANA SKIES. I have enjoyed her other books ;with this book it's has the warmness of a community, and the healing in the family. Peak Rescue,in Mercy Falls, was to be a new job for the summer as lead pilot for Kacey. The changes of seeing her teen age daughter which had only been on deployment would bring another change. Another change was who was running Peak Rescue, an old love, Ben. Putting his music career on hold, to help run, and help his injured father.
Great story of old wounds being healed as they worked together.
Given ARC by Net Galley for my honest opinion.
