Gather under the mistletoe for another round of caroling with the Quinn family in this heartwarming third addition to Elin Hilderbrand's bestselling Winter Street series.
Some of the stormy weather of the past few seasons seems to have finally lifted for the Quinns. After a year apart, and an ill-fated affair with the Winter Street Inn's old Santa Claus, Mitzi has returned to rule the roost; Patrick is about to be released from prison; Kevin has a successful new business and is finally ready to tie the knot with Isabelle; and best of all, there's hopeful news about Bart, who has been captured by enemy forces in Afghanistan.
That doesn't mean there aren't a few dark clouds on the horizon. Kelley has recently survived a health scare; Jennifer can't quite shake her addiction to the drugs she used as a crutch while Patrick was in jail; and Ava still can't decide between the two lovers that she's been juggling with limited success. However, if there's one holiday that brings the Quinn family together to give thanks for the good times, it's Christmas. And this year promises to be a celebration unlike any other as the Quinns prepare to host Kevin and Isabelle's wedding at the inn. But as the special day approaches, a historic once-in-a-century blizzard bears down on Nantucket, threatening to keep the Quinns away from the place--and the people--they love most. Before the snow clears, the Quinns will have to survive enough upheavals to send anyone running for the spiked eggnog, in this touching novel that proves that when the holidays roll around, you can always go home again.

Winter Street Winter Stroll Winter Storms Winter Solstice
The complicated web of familial turmoil created by Hilderbrand in this concluding chapter of her Winter Street trilogy is almost too much to bear as the Quinn family prepares for one last holiday season on Nantucket Island. This fictional depiction of a family working through the tragedies of loss, love, divorce, and addiction brings to the forefront the issues of living in a dysfunctional family and surviving the repercussions of each other's decisions. As readers follow career-driven Margaret, romantically confused Ava, Jennifer, the interior designer addicted to pharmaceuticals, and Margaret's ex-husband, Kelley, now undergoing treatment for prostate cancer, they become exhaustively entangled in the events that unfold. Unfortunately, Hilderbrand's writing does not construct a thrilling plot line. By developing all of her characters at once, leaping from one character's perspective to another, she leaves the story without a solid, defining climax. By the time the reader becomes invested in Jennifer's battle against addiction, Ava takes over the story as she, once again, tries to sort out her tangled love life. Those already familiar with the series will find solace in learning the fate of the main characters, but readers looking for a light read will be disappointed by this emotionally-wrought, scattered conclusion to the trilogy.

I loved every part of this story. The Quinn's are a perfectly imperfect family held together over the years of ups and downs by love, love, love. My heart actually felt sad when I finished the last page. I wanted it to go on forever. Finishing this book is especially sad because I know I don't have another installation of the Quinn family to look forward to. It would be wonderful if some off the Quinn's were to make "cameo appearances" in future Elin books! The only good thing about finishing this book is that I can go back to paying attention to my kids. (It was so hard to tear myself away from this story in the 3 days it took me to read it!)
I was glad I had not read this trilogy until the last one came out so I could read them all in a row! After each one I immediately down loaded the next to find out what happened to the Quinn's! As with the first two, Winter Storms did not disappoint!
Where is Elin!?
I couldnt even make it through the sample. I have read every one of Hilderbrands books, delighting in some well written and intelligent fiction. I never would have downloaded a sample in the past, instead would hit purchase without hesitation. I am not buying this one, sadly giving it a pass as I did with the first two in the series.
I am waiting for the real Elin to show up!
