Detective Reece Gallagher has spent the last decade working as a cop in Chicago so he can search for her—thered-haired woman who haunts his dreams. He’s just about ready to give up and go home to Salvation, North Carolina, when he finally finds her. But she’s the assault victim on a case he’s working on, and there’s a full-blooded werewolf who wants her dead. He needs to keep her safe and convince her she’s his mate.
Hannah Burdette has a secret she’s never told anyone. But there is someone who knows who—or rather, what—she is. There’s a stalker after her who plans to rid the world of her “impure” blood. When the cop she meets turns out to be a werewolf and claims she doesn’t have to be alone anymore, she’s wary. But where better to hide from a bloodthirsty hunter than in the middle of North Carolina with the security of a pack surrounding her?

'Wolf in Her Soul' by N.J. Walters is Book 8th in the "Salvation Pack". This is the story of Reece Gallagher and Hannah Burdette. I feel this is easily a standalone book.
Reece had a dream about his mate where he saw the back of her and he has been trying to find her. Reece even moved to Chicago from North Carolina to locate her but now its 10 years later. Reece has not found her and he has given up and wants to head home. But there are some half wolves that are being murdered and he needs to help with the case.
Hannah is attacked she tries to fight going to the hospital but the medial workers insist that she goes. There they notify the cops who send Detective Reece to the case. Reece doesn't know her but when she turns around wanting to leave the hospital he realizes who she is to him. Hannah is his mate and he will do anything to protect her. Hannah is used to running and thinks to do this after being attacked but Reece stands in her way. Reece wants to help her and she goes forward with him...giving him her trust.
Loved their story.
