In the worlds poorest countries, women and girls are among the most vulnerable and marginalized members of society. This goes without saying that womens rights violations are present in every country and at every level of society.

Eliminating gender discrimination and empowering women are among the imperatives facing the world today. Although much has changed in the decades of womens rights advocacy, the rights and entitlements claimed for women and girls are commonly ignored or suppressed in many societies worldwide. Consequently, hundreds of millions of women and girls are deprived of their human rights.

But what can we, the concerned people, do to stop these abuses? I believe the answer is to support global advocacy and action to secure womens and girls rights. It would help if we could all make an effort to create a world fit for women and children to grow up safe and live happy and healthy.
