Words In Our Beak’s goal is to open readers to a simple understanding of the winged world and their environment. Set in a rooftop urban garden in New York City, my story is told in the voice of Cam, a female cardinal, who visits it. Words In Our Beak is directed to children and adults who are curious about birds, and want to learn about them from a unique perspective. The book includes hundreds of images of flora and fauna, links to movies, as well as to informative narratives that have been created by the author.
Such a great read!
This book is such a great read, I loved listening to cam and hearing about her little family, and learning all about her adventures! This book is highly recommended, especially for bird lovers!
Patricia Youngquist's "Words in Our Beak" is a photographic delight! Ms. Youngquist captures the breathtaking beauty of the birds that make their homes on her Manhattan rooftop garden. Color and light are woven together to offer an intimate glimpse into their routines and activities. Infused with humor and charm, the accompanying prose, written from the perspective of a cardinal named Cam, captures the personalities of her dear winged friends. A book to read and savor!
Cam is a cardinal that visits a garden in a terrace off an apartment in New York City. The author tells the story through Cam's point of view, detailing the many visitors to the garden. The pictures of all the birds are amazing, I felt like I could tell what the birds were thinking. If you wanted to start a garden, the information about various flowers, vines, and shrubs could be very useful, and the photographs of the are very detailed and beautiful. This book was fun to read, and I look forward to reading more about the adventures of the cardinals.
