Publisher Description
One day while spending some time on the web instead of riding around town looking dangerous, we ran across a review of Butch and Louie's Book of Poetry--one of our books! None of the previous reviews had done as good a job of describing why we write poetry for people who don't like poetry. It was written by a retired creative writing professor who is a multi-book author herself, Diana Lopez.
Diana's review explains why we added a poetry journal in the print editions of our poetry book to encourage parents to spend time with their kids writing a few poems of their own. Not only is it a good shared activity, it gets the kids off their phones and iPads, and helps them see the world around them in a different way. Here's her review.
"Butch & Louie's Book of Poetry is a clear example that poetry is everywhere; you just have to know how to see it. The book begins by speaking in general of what poetry is, and that anyone can enjoy it. It succeeds very well with a variety of poems and carefully chosen words. Butch & Louie express themselves in ordinary language, with everyday situations that anyone can relate to, but in a fun and interesting way. Topics can be objects, like talking about a hat, or it can be about travel, even situations. However, it is not known what theme will follow. Some poems have humor, others have a touch of irony or a twist at the end, with wording that keeps you attentive and expectant.
It's very entertaining to read Butch & Louie's Book of Poetry because it has the magic to present the unexpected. It doesn't matter if the next poem is long or short, or if it will talk about an object or something deep; you know that it will be very different and creative. Its surprise factor is very attractive. Butch & Louie's feelings are contagious, that's why all their poems are enjoyable. Both children and adults can read the content that will motivate them to seek creativity in everyday stuff. This book is perfect to introduce new readers to poetry and to demonstrate that formality is not necessary. The important thing is to show what comes from the heart."
Along with Diana, we think you'll like our poetry. It's unlike anything you've read before. The poetry book market is one of the smallest there is. Ninety eight percent of the approximately 10,000 poetry books published each year have fewer than 100 readers. Butch and Louie's Book of Poetry is nearing the 5000 mark and growing everyday.
Read it, and then use it to have some fun with family and friends. You'll be glad you did, and you'll never think of poetry the same way again. We guarantee it. We're Butch and Louie!

Great Poetry
I loved this book. I go back occasionally and read some of the poems again.
I Don’t Like Poetry
I don’t like poetry. I hate reading it. Most of it is boring. Well, what a surprise! I decided to give this one five pages of my time because I liked their other weird books. What they said about this poetry book is true. Before I knew it, I had read the whole thing and wanted more. Where was this when I was learning to hate poetry in high school?
