A Monster's Brutal Mercy

Cain has a soft spot for monsters. And though he's been hired to kill the creature living in the forest, he has no intention of holding up his end of the bargain. Better by far to convince the monster to safely relocate, and then lie to the villagers and collect the reward money with no one the wiser.

But then Cain meets Dorrund, and discovers this monster is the biggest and most beautiful specimen he's ever seen. Cain has given himself to monsters before—he traveled into this forest hoping for an opportunity for something more than conversation—and when Dorrund demands proof of his sincerity before agreeing to the plan, Cain knows just how to convince him.
