About the Author
Alejandra Lorenzo-Chang was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina. She spent most of her childhood summers in Chivilcoy, southwest of Buenos Aires. In Chivilcoy, she was surrounded by nature and experienced a slower pace of life. This allowed her imagination to run free. As a nine-year-old in Chivilcoy, Alejandra was inspired to create the story of Yoclivihc. Yoclivihc is an anagram of Chivilcoy ~ the author’s childhood garden of dreams.
As an adult, Alejandra studied chemical engineering in Buenos Aires. After completing her studies, she moved to the United States, where she pursued her graduate degree and worked as a scientist, until her first child was born. When her children became school age, Alejandra decided to make a major professional shift. She became an educator and has been teaching in Baltimore, Maryland since 2008.
Bernaldo Bourgeois Cimino was born in the Shipibo ethnic group in the heart of Peru’s rainforest. At the age of seven, he was adopted by Waldorf teachers from Italy and Belgium. Since then, he has experienced different cultures and countries with his adoptive family. They have helped Bernaldo’s innate artistic talent to flourish. He is now a 14-year-old, cosmopolitan artist. In Bernaldo’s art, one can perceive his great love of nature and the magical world of fairy stories.
Victoria P. Mansuri grew up in the Washington, DC area, attending the Washington Waldorf School. She became a Waldorf teacher in her mid-20s and has been teaching for over 25 years. As a Waldorf teacher, Victoria loves creating stories and the beautiful pictures that accompany them. She and Alejandra met at the Waldorf School of Baltimore when Victoria was teaching Alejandra’s oldest son. Alejandra invited Victoria to become a part of the Yoclivihc project as a collaborator in shaping the story and its artistic expression.
Victoria is still telling stories and teaching. She lives in Central Vermont with her two cats, Myles and Clara.
