Publisher Description
This album of photographs captures London of 1880 in twenty-four sites including Buckingham Palace, Houses of Parliament, Mansion House, Albert Hall, Westminster Bridge and St. Paul's Cathedral. The photographs are introduced by a text in English with architectural descriptions of each of the sites.
York & Son was a firm of photographers founded by Frederick York in 1863, producing stereo views and lantern slides of London, as well as photographs. The slides were very popular, and by 1910 there were 33,000 slides on offer, with various views of British cities and their monuments.
