“The perfect thriller to read with your toes in the sand while looking over your shoulder.” —The View
Don’t miss the instant New York Times bestseller from Megan Miranda, where a mother’s secrets, campus mysteries, and long-hidden truths ignite a haunting legacy.
Beckett Bowery never thought she’d return to Wyatt Valley, a picturesque college town in the Virginia mountains steeped in tradition. Her roots there were strong: Beckett’s parents taught at the college, and she never even imagined studying anywhere else—until a tragedy her senior year ended with two local men dead, and her roommate on the run, never to be seen again…
For the last two decades, Beckett has done her best to keep her distance. Then her daughter, Delilah, secretly applies to Wyatt College and earns a full scholarship, and Beckett can only hope that her lingering fears are unfounded. But deep down she knows that Wyatt Valley has a long memory, and that the past isn’t the only dangerous thing in town…
APPLE BOOKS REVIEW
College can be scary enough all by itself, but when murder enters the picture, things get positively terrifying. In this dizzyingly complex thriller, Beckett Bowery lives with some serious skeletons in her closet regarding her alma mater Wyatt College. Decades ago, Beckett’s roommate Adalyn was accused of setting a deadly fire during a scary hazing ritual called “the howling.” Adalyn disappeared, then the school linked Beckett to the incident and asked her to leave. Now Beckett’s daughter, Delilah, has snagged a Wyatt scholarship behind her mom’s back. And a disturbing message suggests that Beckett’s family has unfinished business at Wyatt and Delilah’s in danger. Megan Miranda pivots seamlessly back and forth in time to tell the tale, slowly fanning the flames of paranoia as it increasingly starts to seem like nobody can be trusted. There are plenty of twists and loads of deliciously creepy atmosphere, including secret tunnels and a spooky forest. You Belong Here is the perfect chiller for anyone in search of a good scare.
Customer Reviews
Worth it.
Premise and ending confused me…and yet I liked the setting and characters.
Confusing and tiresome read.
I’ve loved all of her books up till now. This one was a bit tiresome and confusing, but I still felt the need to finish it just because …but not one of Megan’s best. I was somewhat disappointed.
Very confusing
This was not one of her favorite books of mine
