Publisher Description

Some people fall asleep in the sitting room in front of the television, but cannot fall asleep in their beds. Why? You don’t teach a baby to sleep. You are born knowing how to sleep. The sleep problem is when you are in bed and try to ‘take over’ this natural ability to sleep, that creates stress and this stress stops sleep. The more you try to make yourself sleep, the more stress and the more hard to sleep. The fear that you have to do things that you don’t know ‘how’ is very stressful and it is this anxiety of not knowing how to ‘do’ sleep makes your sleep difficult. My ‘Equal Way’ is to do something equal to sleep. This helps you to do something that you know how and stops you trying to ‘do’ sleep. It is divided into Body Equal and Mind Equal. People believe when they go to sleep only the Mind sleeps, but our body goes to sleep just like the mind. Body sleep is more important and always starts before Mind seep. Doing the ‘Equal Way’ is like watching television and falls asleep in the sitting room. If you eat an apple you don’t tell the stomach how to digest the apple. Your body knows how to do it. Sleep is the same. You cannot ‘do’ sleep, but your body can. As you repeat the Equal Way and allow your body to do sleep, you will no longer have the fear that you need to ‘do’ sleep and you will look forward to bed time to sleep like a baby. When you first start doing the Equal Way, you may still have doubts if it is going to work, and do sleep in the old way; like watching the clock and wonder when will sleep come. With perseverance and getting results, you begin to trust your body and sleep comes naturally. Just one last word, your body knows how to digest the apple. Your body knows how to ‘do’ sleep.

Below is one of the letters from grateful readers and may explain the results of those who find this book useful, and you can be one of them. Dear Dr. Wong, I have long standing insomnia. After months of very poor sleep, I consulted a respiratory physician specialising in sleep medicine and insomnia. He prescribed some sleeping pills and provided with resources for stress including techniques like mindfulness. But, both these interventions worsened my sleep. The pills worked but as I stopped them, my insomnia returned. I bought your book 2 years ago. It changed the way I thought about sleep. This understanding and use of some techniques in your book, resulted in near instant resolution of my insomnia. Indeed I haven’t had a bad night sleep since
