Actionable advice for the 40+ career changer/ job seeker

Generally, career guidance books come in a one-size-fits-all-ages containing the same content only with exciting titles meant to address career topic du jour, with a well-designed cover and with funny anecdotes by the author. Everything seems to reiterate what we already know: yadda yadda your resume; yadda yadda your leads; yadda yadda your network. There’s nothing that truly speaks to those in the “mid-career” part of their lives who require a different sort of coaching. We certainly don’t like being told what to do, since we’re used to doing that ourselves.

What we need instead is a new way to present ourselves to those with whom we interview without scaring the daylights out of them. Seasoned, senior, and sometimes more qualified than the manager who may hire us, we languish along with our vast experience, for months looking for work that isn’t what we want, and sometimes impractical to our real needs and desires. Peter’s book guides the (dare I say) older and growing population of job seekers towards a new way of thinking and puts a new lens on how we look at ourselves and our careers. However, anyone looking to take a new road down their career path to the C-suite exec can mine several invaluable gems of wisdom from this quick read.

High recommendations for this book - it’s worth every minute and you can save yourself some excruciating time and effort from Peter’s years of wisdom as a career coach.
