Ginny opened the door, her eyes widening at the sight of me.

"What are you doing here?" she asked as she stepped out and shut the door.

Shit. I'd got it wrong. She was the one blowing me off.

"I got that text and it sounded like maybe you thought I was going to blow you off after last night, but now I'm thinking that maybe you're the one who was doing that to me…"

"Look, Ginny. I didn't spend every minute at the park that I could, watch your kids, admit that story about Liz, and tell you I wanted to hang out today just so I could get laid. I mean, it's been a while, but I'm pretty sure there are easier ways to do that. You're not some rebound f**k. I like you. A lot. I think your kids are great. So, no. I'm not blowing you off. I smiled and nodded. At least she was being honest and wasn't going to string me along for two years. I bent and put the drinks and pastries on deck.

Her hand on my arm stopped me as I turned to leave.

"That's not what I meant. I meant I'm sorry I had doubts about your intentions this morning. I woke up and in my head, it didn't make sense."

I frowned. "What didn't make sense?"

"Just you. Wanting me. Why the hell would a gorgeous single guy who could walk into any building in town and walk out with a harem want to be with a widow with two kids?"

I started to laugh. "Ok. First of all, a harem sounds exhausting."

She smiled and shrugged.

It's been three years since I lost my best friend, the love of my life, the father of my children. My life since then has been all about my work and my kids. So when Logan Banks starts hanging around, I try not to think too much about it. I mean, why would he be interested in a single mom when he could have any of the women in this town fawning over him.
