Zeke and Cynthia

Zeke first came to Miss Ethel as a boy filled with anger. His mom left him to be raised by his abusive father. Zeke’s father taught him to solve his problems through fighting, to extreme. After his father is arrested for murder Zeke is full of anger with no outlet. Miss Ethel shows Zeke, like all her boys, how to work through his anger. Zeke’s favorite outlet was cooking with Miss Ethel. After graduating high school, Zeke continues cooking while enlisted in the Army. Zeke later leaves the Army, volunteers at the homeless shelter, and becomes partners with his brother, Zander. It’s while volunteering at the homeless shelter that Zeke meets Cynthia.

Cynthia has recently fallen on hard times. Although she holds a job, as a housekeeper at a ritzy hotel, she is drowning in medical debt. Cynthia finds herself in need of housing after roommate mishaps. Although Cynthia meets Zeke and finds him extremely kind and encouraging, she mistakenly thinks he’s married. After discovering he’s really single, Cynthia decides to take a chance on Zeke. Maybe their friendship could lead to more...

Loved, loved, loved Zeke and Cynthia! Cynthia’s struggles were so real. None of us truly knows just how close we are to being homeless. She had a job and still struggled. She was kind, caring, helpful, honest, and a hard worker. She got sick and had to miss work without PTO. Then all the medical bills came in....I enjoyed Zeke’s ability to help, but not take over and solve all of her problems. Zeke was sooo encouraging and supportive! Homelessness is a HUGE problem in our society. Maryann Jordan did a wonderful job incorporating homelessness into this story! I also enjoyed the suspense/mystery aspect. I like that the villain isn’t easily known at first glance. I read a gifted copy and all opinions stated are my own.

Beautifully written!

As always Maryann Jordan has written another Hero for us all to fall in love with. Zeke Kemp is the next to youngest son of Miss Ethel and what a beautiful story he got. This series is winding down but yet this family keeps growing.

Cynthia has fallen on some hard times. Her story is as close to ‘Cinderella’ as one could but ending up in the homeless shelter wasn’t how things were planned but she just might have been able to find her prince during her hard time.

We follow as these two get to know each other, we follow as these two fall in love and we watch as they navigate their lives.

A little mystery, fun times with family, we watch as the family comes together and helps one another. I think that is one of my favorite parts of this series is the live they have for one another as family.

Highly recommended

Miss Ethel is my FAVORITE!

This is book 7 in the Heroes at Heart series and it features Zeke and Cynthia. A lot of us are a step or two away from a homeless shelter. This is where Zeke meets Cynthia. His own Cinderella. It’s not lost on me that he had a fascination with the various tales of the Cinderella story when he was younger. She’s had it rough and needs a fresh start. She also needs protection. These two just click and as always, Miss Ethel seems to be everyone’s fairy godmother.

This story line was good but not too exciting. There wasn’t much action. The romance was sweet and I absolutely LOVE any interaction we have with Miss Ethel. She definitely brings the magic to the series.
