Meet Zoey, a Deaf dog, who loves to see new places with her human partner, Fir. Zoey invites you to join her adventure at the dog park narrated in American Sign Language and written English.
My son loves this book. He has severe hearing loss and attends our state's school for the deaf. We read the book together, and he reads via the sigs on his own! He is five and we enjoy reading together. I am hearing but love this book. There is nothing out there like this! Please write more for my boy! We both get so much out of this type of book.
My ASL teacher introduced me to this book and I think it is wonderful! I enjoy this book because it helps me practice ASL and it truly is an easy way to learn. This book has really helped me advance my skills and I have never enjoyed reading a book until now. Thank you for such a wonderful story and I hope there will be many more!
The book has a couple great features that make it great for kids and families. The signer spells vocabulary and uses description in the signs of the word (for example, leash and laser pointer). The red words within the text are also defined in extended video descriptions, making this book more accessible to children who are still learning to read. There are also elements of Deaf culture within the story. Overall, cute story and great features for accessibility!
