Beyond the Pale

Beyond the Pale is the first entry in a new fantasy adventure trilogy set in the world of "Forgotten Lore," where monsters, dark magic, and other threats lurk beyond the borders of the Three Kingdoms of the humans, elves, and dwarves.

Metellius led a life of violence as a soldier for the human Kingdom of Arresh, until a brush with death led him down a different path. Now an itinerant priest of the Bright God Sorevas, he is drawn to places where injustice exists and desperate people need a helping hand. But he has never been to a place like the Barrowlands, a chaotic frontier that lies far beyond the laws and authority of any kingdom.

Razgetha is a hobgoblin of the Remnant, descended from a line of proud warriors. Born to a culture that consigns her gender a lesser status, she has gathered a band of like-minded women and built them into one of the most famous mercenary companies of the Barrowlands. But when she is forced to choose between her sisters and her honor, she too finds herself walking a solitary—and dangerous—path.

Gralnek was exiled by the goblins of the Rift of Shadows for a murder that he didn't commit. Gifted with strange magical powers, he too searches the Barrowlands, looking for the strength to undo the corruption that has settled in among his people.

These three unlikely companions, drawn together by fate, must learn to trust each other as they confront the followers of a dark god with its own designs on the Barrowlands, lurking in the shadows and slowly extending its sway.
