Peach Pit

A girl decides to bury her possessions in the garden to deal with her grief.

When the little girl in this story loses several members of her family in the same winter, including her grandmother and her beloved Persian cat, her feelings are overwhelming. From then on, she decides to bury the things she loves the most in the garden. Each object gets its own special epitaph. For her bicycle: “Its chain fell off.” For her dress: “A chocolate stain put an end to its useful life.” When she runs out of her favorite things, she starts burying things she takes from others. But how long can she keep burying everything – including her feelings?

By turns strange, funny and poignant, Peach Pit is a story about loss, endings and new beginnings created by award-winning artist Eva Mastrogiulio.
