The Cheat

Sportswriter Bobby Giaquinto measures his life in sexual conquests, along with the occasional story deadline.  He plods through life numbly, until he meets a woman he cannot forget, and becomes gripped by a baseball story about a very righteous and beloved pitcher who is anything but what he seems.  Bobby’s obsession hurls him towards dangerous truths about the subjects of his story, and himself.  Pat Jordan’s haunting novel is an unflinching look at love, vengeance, and what drives us to  do the things we do.
