The Metamorphosis

The Metamorphosis is a novella by Franz Kafka that was originally published in German in 1915. The story begins with Gregor Samsa, a traveling salesman, waking up to find that he has transformed into a giant bug.  It is never explained how or why Samso makes this transformation.
