Brought up to believe she was a poor relative by her Aunt, Heather Leithbridge unexpectedly discovers that she is the heiress to a large country estate. On attaining her majority she flees from London with Ellie, her maid, and they find themselves overwhelmed by gracious country living on her ancestral lands.
