Publisher Description

A fascinating and stunning novel from Pete Wentz, the founder and bassist of punk sensation Fall Out Boy—that reveals the dark side of rock-and-roll.

Sometimes, late at night in the hotel room, after the lights have gone out and the mistakes have already been made, when it is heavy and silent and still, I lie awake and listen to my pulse on the pillow…

Imagine you are on a tour bus, the miles whistling away beneath you as you sleep. Tomorrow you will wake up in downtown Somewhere. It doesn’t matter. All the skylines look the same. Time is only marked by events. The world is on a first-name basis with you.

But you…you barely even know yourself. There are those who give in completely to the idea of what it means to be famous. And those who can’t ever seem to leave the past behind. Life is a deep and contemplative story stuck on repeat—love, loss, self-destruction, self-discovery.

If you could go back to the way things were before you made it…would everything still be gray?

by far the best book i have ever read

from the moment i read the free preview, i fell in love with this book. it is like a window into the author’s head, and it’s fascinating. i have never read a book with this kind of writing style, with all of its gorgeous metaphors mixed with vulgar reality. each and every time i re-read it, it somehow manages to take my breath away and stop my heart. it has been a huge part in helping me to realize my true passion of psychology, and for that i owe my life to pete wentz. if you’re on the fence and debating if you should read it, READ IT.

A beautiful twist of thoughts that bring meaning to simple words.

Absolutely lovely wording throughout the book. Detailed in the mildest but most original ways. I honestly haven’t read a book I liked since Dracula by Bram Stoker, which I read back in 2013, but I was completely locked into this story once I read the summary. He expresses his emotions and trials in such a realistic sense, that you can’t help but relate yourself as the character instead of an on looker. Im terribly disappointed to understand that Wentz has written only two books, because I honestly would love to know there were more out there to keep my imagination and thoughts working as this book has done. A must read for people who love a good eye opener for the silent sufferings that is out there in our world that we choose to ignore daily. Not everything is simple, the heart and the mind has never been. Definitely will be a story you will highlight in various places for you to go back and reread with awe. A highly recommended read!
