Publisher Description
Her cool sexy demeanor betrays nothing, but twenty-nine-year-old Heather Hurley suffers from major anxiety attacks -- her life in L.A. isn't going exactly as planned. Now, in a bar near her hometown on the Jersey shore, her future is about to change forever....
"Your panic is your friend. It loves you and it's just trying to protect you.
The man who spoke to her was gorgeous: long dusky hair, faded jeans and a black motorcycle jacket. And before Heather could brush him off, his arm touched hers and the result was electric: she felt her fear and anxiety drop away. Who was this guy? "I am who you think I am." Oh, God. "That's very good. It's about time we straightened out a few things in your life." His voice was like a sanctuary, a safe and lovely haven, and she felt enveloped by a cloud of serenity.
So begins Heather's journey toward discovering her life as it was meant to be: filled with the true meaning of love and the magic of realizing her dreams. For every woman who longs to embrace her true self, heaven in high gear is proof that you can always find your way, as long as you trust your heart.
PUBLISHERS WEEKLY
Heather Hurley has the hots for God--that is, she's the next lucky disciple in the inspirational fictional chronicle that began with the bestselling God on a Harley, in which a dowdy housewife discovered God (aka Joe) on a motorcyle. Heather, the lucky lady here, is a 29-year-old stripper whose fast-paced L.A. life leaves her street-smart, cynical and alone much of the time--ripe, in other words, for her encounter with the appealing, leather-jacketed stranger she meets at a bar, who staves off her anxiety attacks. She later finds out Joe's real identity and his mission: to help her take a second look at her life. He teaches her the path to a richer existence through seven individualized, if bland, commandments. Among the bromides comprising his list: "Look only for the good in people and that's exactly what you'll find," and "Believe in your many talents." Plucky and appropriately skeptical at first, Heather eventually sees the light and develops a relationship with Joe that is on an oddly mortal plane; mystical discussions aside, their physical attraction and the earthly concerns of both lend this deity a remarkably mundane persona. Brady occasional lapses into painfully adolescent musings: "If I were an ocean wave, I'd lap at his feet, too." But Heather's spiritual journey can be entertaining if one is not put off by the whimsical concept.
Customer Reviews
LOVE, LOVE IT!
I loved this book! Cried and was deeply touched. It’s as if Joan Brady reached into the secret longing place in my heart and put it into words.
Wish she’d continue with this series!!!
