Publisher Description
From New York Times bestselling author Jude Deveraux, a suspensful romance about a woman who uncovers a powerful treasure—and to protect it, she’ll need the help of the man she can’t have…but can’t help falling for.
What if your most closely guarded wishes suddenly began to come true?
Graduate student Gemma Ranford wants the job cataloging the documents of one of Edilean’s oldest families so much that she is ready to do battle to get it. Desperate to finish her dissertation, she’s sure that investigating the Frazier family history will yield new information to invigorate her research. But she is surprised to find among the papers references to the legend of the Heartwishes Stone, a magical talisman said to grant wishes to anyone named Frazier. And as she spends more time with the family in their small Virginia town, she realizes that the most secret wishes of each of the Fraziers are coming true—and that she’s falling hopelessly in love with Colin, the Fraziers’ eldest son.
But now that the Stone’s powers have been awakened, so have the designs of an international thief. Gemma and Colin must find the Stone before it can be used against the family but not before each of their deepest desires is fulfilled. . . .
PUBLISHERS WEEKLY
A graduate student comes to Edilean, Va., for a job, but finds herself on the rocky road to love in Deveraux's new blend of modern romance and historical fiction. Alea Frazier hires Gemma Ranford to organize the family papers with the hope that the young woman might also convince Colin, the 27-year-old town sheriff and eldest Frazier son, to drop his on-again/off-again girlfriend and finally get serious. Small, blonde, smart, and brave, Gemma fits right in with the Fraziers and their idyllic community, earning early notoriety by stripping to a tank-top to help Colin rescue a boy from a tree, a scene that becomes a minor YouTube hit. A long-lost family heirloom, the Heartwishes Stone (purported to grant family members whatever they wish), finds Gemma drawn even more deeply to the Fraziers; Colin wants true love and his mother wants grandchildren, so Gemma seems destined for happiness. But misunderstandings abound, and a charming international thief and Colin's soon-to-be-ex, an ambitious lawyer, threaten the Frazier matriarch's hopes , the Fraziers themselves, and even the town. This latest in the Edilean series spends plenty of time in the modern world, and gleefully plugs plot holes with humorous academic rivalries and cheerful family chaos. Deveraux (The Scent of Jasmine) keeps the tone light and the plot moving, pausing only to take an occasional wistful look back.

Moonlight in the morning
This book made me smile. It moves fast and I enjoyed the people and town. Can't wait for the next book in Aug. 2012
Love the Edilean Series!!!
I love how Jude Deveraux has woven these series together. I haven't read a series like this that has been more enjoyable. The only thing I regret is how fast I get to the end of the latest installment. You MUST read this series if you in any way like/love period or modern romance novels. You will NOT regret it.
Another great read!
Loved the historical references, picked it up and read from cover to cover in one sitting. Excellent!
