Publisher Description

An approved textbook at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry since its first publication, Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them is an indispensable guide to the magical beasts of the wizarding world. It showcases a menagerie of magical creatures, explained enchantingly by noted magizoologist, Newt Scamander, who you may remember from the film series of the same name.

And, who better to narrate this compendium of beasts than Eddie Redmayne, Oscar-winning star of the Fantastic Beasts films. The audiobook uses thrilling soundscapes to bring the beasts off the page.

The shelves of the Hogwarts Library are also home to many more fascinating books. If you have enjoyed Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them you might want to check out some of its other treasures: Quidditch Through the Ages and The Tales of Beedle the Bard.

Wonderful, inspiring, engaging, but not like the movie.

If you’re looking for a peek into the breadth of J.K. Rowling’s world and the most curious fascinations that are the magical beasts that roam such lands, look no further. This book is narrated by Newt himself, making for a homely and comfortable experience.

So why the missing star? Having seen the movie, I was hoping to relive that experience differently, and perhaps with more depth and detail, much like one would by reading the Harry Potter books after the movies.

Though this isn’t quite that, it’s no doubt eye-opening and educating in the way of fantastic beasts… and of course, where to find them.

Disappointing

I’m a huge fan of the HP world and Eddie Redmayne respectfully but this was a fairly big disappointment.
Was I hoping for a bit of a story, how Newt discovered and studied these fantastic beasts? Yes but they didn’t promise that in the description so that’s on me.
Was I, resigned to my mistake at the least expecting as many fantastic beasts as possible to be included? Absolutely and the fact that “the book was re-released in 2015” makes it exhaustingly disappointing that they overlook several beasts in the Harry Potter series alone. That one is on them.
Don’t waste your money, it’s a name, a one sentence descriptor with hardly any information and a ministry rating that is largely irrelevant.
Apologies, occasionally there are two sentences describing in the most basic of terms, the fantastic beasts they opted to include, which yet again is a significant disappointment as we meet many more in both the HP books and the films in both HP & FB franchises.
If this book was a spell I’d be saying “protego”
Sincerely,
A loyal fan who’d like to save other fans the same frustration.
