Publisher Description
When F. Scott Fitzgerald wrote The Great Gatsby in the early 1920s, the American Dream was already on the skids. Originally based on the idea that the pursuit of happiness involves not only material success, but moral and spiritual growth, the dream had, by Fitzgerald's time, become increasingly focused on money and pleasure - a phenomenon with which the high-living writer was all too familiar.
Customer Reviews
It's good, not great
The Narrator's voice can be annoying at times, but not painstakingly annoying. A good price for it however, I wouldn't expect to pay anymore for it, and the preview should be changed to show some of the awkward pauses in the audiobook. And personally I prefer this over a dramatised version paying $29 for an audiobook is ridiculous, and you may as well buy the book itself
I agree
Sorry, but I have to agree whole heartedly with the other review. The preview was fine, and the voice was lovely, but on trying to listen to the audiobook I found myself squealing in agony. I have deleted the audiobook and bought a more expensive version. Can I get my money back?
Avoid
Audiobook was cheap but the narrator has an very annoying was of speaking with unnecessary pauses that infuriated me. 'his eyes were….blue'
I wondered if they used Stephen Hawking's voice synthesiser to make it.
I would avoid.
