The best book ever
Perfectly narrated.
A must read
Brilliant and sobering. A relevant read for any society.
Excellent Book
Provides a very detailed look into the situation inside the USSR but more importantly it provides a detailed insight into the phycological scaffolding necessary for such a tyrannical government to exist.
The book explains the mentality of both the perpetrators and the persecuted in graphic detail and the lie and greed based ideology that relied so heavily on fear to fuel it’s tyrannical, self destructive engine.
The contents of this book that I feel is of particularly importance and thus worth mentioning is Solzhenitsyn’s honest, self reflective writings. He is able to view the environment not just from a victim’s point of view and a victim he was, but also from the position of the perpetrators. It is through this process he is able to see that all persons involved where both either simultaneously or at one point or another, both victim and perpetrator in some sense of the words.
This is an outstanding piece of literary achievement. I recommend this book to EVERYONE.
