Publisher Description
She had been his sole obsession. He would have done anything to have her and he did. She had been a light in his darkness. She had made him want to be more, better, different.
Nothing mattered more than her.
Until she betrayed him and in a moment of revenge he slept with her stepsister. That one drunken mistake lost him his soul.
Oakley Watson had learned at a young age to protect her heart. Not to trust anyone with it. But when Wilder Jones walked into her life, she didn’t just give it to him -she left it at his feet. Their forever ended the day he told her that he’d gotten her stepsister pregnant.
A love greater than anything she’d ever imagined had burned so brightly she’d been blinded. But that was nine years ago, and all in the past.
The only thing left of the fire that had once been, were the ashes left behind.
Customer Reviews
Spice, drama and a pupper 🐶
As someone who has read a lot of Abbi’s books, this one definitely surprised me. I love the way these books have taken down a darker, more adult theme, and as someone who doesn’t like a whole lot of flashbacks, I found myself wanting to know more about their history, the flashbacks perfectly set the picture to Oakley and Wilders tangled relationship.
It’s one of those slow burns that makes you want to scream at the main characters to pull their heads out of their asses, but I’d be lying to myself if slow burns weren’t the best kinds of books. The history of Wilder and Oakley made me hurt for both of them and made my heart do little somersaults (which is a rare thing these days when you read so many romance novels).
It’s an easy read but like always, packed with enough to get you attached to the characters. My only downside is that by the end I wanted more! I hope we get to read more about how their story continues.
Special mention to Belladonna, the bestest most loyal friend a little girl could ask for 🐶
Loved it!!
This series just keeps getting better! This is the 10th book in the smoke series and I absolutely loved it so much that I read it in one sitting. Wilder and Oakley’s story is a second chance romance that grips you from page one and has you wanting to see if they will finally get to have their HEA. I really enjoyed how the book switched between the past and the present and the banter between the characters is amazing, especially when you add the adorable little Sarah into the mix. I can't wait to read more about these southern mafia men and thier wonderful ladies!!
Wouldn’t know…
Can’t even read it 😑
