Publisher Description
The most anticipated part of pregnancy is giving birth; yet most pregnancy books devote only a chapter or two to this miraculous event and the physical discomfort that accompanies it. Uniquely, Birth Skills concentrates solely on helping you, and your partner, manage the pain of childbirth - from the first contraction, throughout the labour to the actual birth itself.
Written by leading obstetric physiotherapist Juju Sundin, with Sarah Murdoch providing a mother's point of view, this wonderful book tells you exactly how your body works in labour and clearly explains how you can use movement, breathing, vocalisation, visualisation and many other easy-to-follow techniques to alleviate pain.
Juju and Sarah's sound advice makes Birth Skills an invaluable guide for all expectant parents.

Helped me have my dream birth
Such a fantastic resource for great birthing skills. It helped me to have a beautiful natural water birth having my 4.5kg baby girl.
excellent
this book and the techniques it suggests got me through my 14 hour posterior labour using only the techniques suggested and a TENS machine. But that is not the best thing about the book, the best thing about the book is that it gave me confidence and reduced the intense birth fear I was feeling as a first time mother. A big thanks to the authors.
Invaluable!
I have this book in hard copy and have just bought the iBook. This book was my 'birth bible' 5 years ago when I gave birth to my first child. Because of the information contained in this book I got through a 20 hour labour with no pain relief at all and felt in control and empowered. Now pregnant with number 2 its time for a refresher course! If you are pregnant, please read this book!
